Confessions of a gymaholic my version

If you are a style chick you must have watched that movie: Confessions of a shopaholic,knowing where all the sales for top brands are,flattening a credit card cos of clothes. We all have some form of obsession whether we like to talk about it or have it hidden from our friends and family.




Today I want to confess:I am not obsessed about training,its a girl's right to look good. Do you wanna don your Pradas,Mui Mius,Guccis,Burberry,Manolo Blahnik, and drink your Diva Vodka go on chick,do that. They call it "302det el khawaga "...that feel good feeling when wearing brands.

Truth of the matter this is what people call le good life, i call it goofing off,who cares if you seen at the most expensive restaurants/clubs and hang out spots and what nots.It gets lonely out there cos the world is full of wanabees like us who wear Dolce and Banana that looks almost like yours and wears out in 2 months. When you represent at Taboo they are there too representing and no1 has time to check who's fong kong and who's not. All we see is sweat through your expensive top while jumping up and down for everyone to see what you wearing/you call this dancing..chick pleasseeeeee.

I confess: I was late for my Tuesday slot.Reason:my alarm didnt go off,by the time I got out of bed it was already 5H30,needless to say all was a rush,from the colgate(LOL if yall dont know black people call toothpaste colgate hehe) for sure ask your neighbour..to the brush ,to washing my face,jumped into my car drove out the gate 220 and luckily the gymaholics were waiting. We did an hour class in 30mins. And there goes my motor mouth: If yall didnt get a workout I am prepared to do a free class Thursday at 5H30. Agreed we all head to the shower then off to work.

Come today:JOBURG'S SILLY WEATHER: Its raining.Oh my gosh, why did I promise.i regretted this..a promise is a promise is a promise is a....I did and I am going. 6 people show up,its ok..we have our fun and we go to work.

Moral of the story: I love what I do and for sure love to see people feeling good about themselves,its not the clothes that you wear or how sexy you look.I can zumba in the morning at 7 and zumba late, I can leave the gym at 8pm since being ther at 6.



I just enjoy it,its not being obsessed. Its almost like knowing you have a ryt to look and feel good and using the best resources at your disposal. ALWAYS REMEMBER: Gym makes you feel good about yourself,and you can wear a rag on that hot bod and you will still look hot. The best things in life are not free,they are just inexpensive...

I got cramps

Ei you guys,my body has been aching for almost a week now, my physio said too much training and no stretching. What was I thinking, for a while I have been jumping up and down teaching zumba and hip hop and I never realised how important it was to stretch until recently. Oh my word, the balls of my feet are sorer than sore, my neck is out of order. Remember to not do what the trainer does, just do what she says.

Stretching is important for all gym fanatics especially dancers. The tip is to always be able to hold your stretch for 30 seconds and move on to the next,otherwise you will be makrokokroko like me,tense muscles that can't be loosened or should I say muscles taking forever to be stretched..

So guys please do remember to stretch..

Waist down-get jiggy with it.

Ya well,I did wake up to train this morning,and yep I was looking forward to it cos I slept early yesterday. Funny I didnt entertain any negative thoughts this time cos I was on a mission. Exercise recipe for the day was legs and arms cos these ladies always terrify me with the way they are so obsessed with their butt and tummies,so I always have to do that in the class,either or...

Stand out exercise for today: Bosu ball and 2 weights.
Fitness lesson: Uneven spaces are really good for your conditioning and muscle build.

So turn the bosu ball upside down,putting the soft surface on the floor and the hard surface facing up.
  • Stand with your legs far apart onto the edge of the bosu. Once you find your balance,do a semi-squat and rock your legs from side to side with the weights on both arms.
  • Rock fast,rock slow. Make it fun for yourself. U can even time yourself.
  • Add on: Do 3 sets of 10 repetitions of squats,remember to squeeze your butt as you come up. Hold for  few seconds and go back down.
This exercise is good for the butt,inner thighs,calves and everything wobbly from waist down. Remember to always tuck your tummy in and steady your breath.

PS: My friend with wobblies is still my friend,thats why I wanna help her get a killer bod. Mhwaaaaaa.

Does it always have to be a doctor or nutrition specialist??/

Please do not let just anyone give you an eating plan. Does it always have to be a specialized person who tells you what to eat or not??? I would say if you are sick then sure, see someone,let them tell you what to put in your tummy. On the flipside reality is we know when we eat gara, if its good for us or not. You know when you eat pap and you fall asleep at work..you know when you wanna have it with that gravy and put mixed veggies into the gravy for your dose of veggies while everything is reeling with some hectic oil.

Guys I never give people a diet. I let people write in a piece of paper what they eat everyday for a week,chances of you changing what you have in a week are like 10%,you know if you like mac and cheese its bound to come up in your diet 1nce a week. I cant propose that you go eat carrots if you dont like them,I would rather check what you like and tweak it with a healthy option,that way you will never crash diet or hate the food you eat cos you will be smiling all the way to the gym plus your arteries will be breathing after being clogged for so loong by atchar oil or whatever oily food you consume.

I HATE TRAINING AND THE GYM,BUT I LOVE THE SAUNA AND THE STEAMROOM..

Whaaat????Hate is such a strong word. Hate it,hate it,hate....Its 5am and I am contemplating whether I should go to the gym or not? I drag myself out of bed,hardly remember what I just dreamt about cos my mind is flooding with excuses to not go. Is it the flu,period pains,runny nose,stomach cramps or  maybe salient hypochondriac tendencies cos isnt it that experts say you become what you believe.

Ya well,the truth is I have to wake up and go cos sadly there are people waiting for me for a 5h30 class. Eishhh..A lot of instructors go through these motions all the time,wanting to just be excused cos they are tired,too tired to even lift a finger. Training can be exhausting sometimes and then we develop words like hate this,hate that while all you need isi to just rest.

As for normal gym goers,u are allowed to hate the gym and love the sauna,but that comes along with waist rolls,thunder thighs,chubby feet,wobbly characters all over the body. And you dont want that huh. I have seen a lot of gifted ladies(in terms of the above wobblies)sitting in the steamroom and talking about losing weight if you sit in there for hours. Not sure who they fooling cos it aint me.

Ladies imma break it down: Training is a mindset,gym is a lifestyle,no one is saying go home and eat cardboard food,start small by swapping your breakfast with a healthier one,get a different type of bread, try it out,use olive oil with ur eggs,substitute your cereal for oats until u get used to it. then do lunch and later on supper. It will make such a difference in your body in terms of mind-sharpness,fatique and health. The other thing I know is if you feel like you dont want to train and you still go,it wont make that much of a difference cos u working out againt what your heart wills. So gear up every morning and after work,look forward to training and get it done. The mind is such a powerful thing,use it to tune into your day..DONT FORCE ANYTHING,cos frankly there wont be any results.

Trading my pretty for SWAGG/ A million many faces????

Who says pretty and swagg cannot be interchanged? For a year the Bulls babes have been prim,proper and wayyyyyyy too pretty in their hot dresses. Our dance coach decided to do a hectic hip hop number this year for Super Rugby and watch us trash the field in what I would like to call SWAGGANSTALISCIOUS. (SWAGG,PLUS GANGSTA PLUS BOOTYLISCIOUS) look.

I like this look cos its so versatile and it just goes to show that DANCERS HAVE A MILLION FACES THAT THEY CAN SHARE WITH THEIR FANS.

What to do before the big game if you feeling fat(Dancers)

I get to practice yesterday for the bulls,realise that my old sweats that used to fit soo perfect dont fit anymore,is the booty big,love handles wobbling or whats up with me?Maybe these pants were just washed the other day. Who is fooling who? My mind or my body. Conclusion-i am fooling myself,body and mind. I decide to eat liquids and pleanty fruit for today and tomorrow. Let us see how I look at the game on Saturday. Will post a pic..

Remember to not follow suit: Just keep on training and eating healthy,then you dont need to crash eat or crash drink anything.

YOGA-TO DO OR NOT TO DO?

Ya well,so here I am,a hopeless stretcher,deciding I have had enough with my whole body aching everytime I go to bed,especially my legs(legs of thunder or thundering with pain,excuussssssssse I dont mean thunder thighs,I mean pain OK. I decide I am gonna take YOGA classes(didnt wana do it for such a long time cos I am one of those clueless people who think its some kind of cult/inner self spiritism that I dont believe in. I decide to pray before I get into the class cos now I  dont want to leave the class with some spirit in me that I dont know. Turns out it was just an exercise and I had so much fun not knowing half the poses and laughing at myself. And I decided when they did their meditation I just spoke to God and focussed all my attention to Him. At the end when they said shagria shagria something I just said Thank you Lord for this class and I walked out. I feel like a million bucs ryt now,I can stretch better and my core is strengthening.

Moral of the story: Always make informed decisions about anything in life before you brush it aside. Love you peeps.

You look fab and flawless

I asked the ladies that came to the 05:30 Shape class this morning @ Greenstone Virgin Active what problems do they have with their bodies.One lady answered:"my back" I almost fell on the floor laughing. What was this Shringlish(bad use of English words) that I was speaking? Meant to ask what part of their bodies needed more swagg,fixing,to be worked on??? Agg nevertheless i came to a conclusion that if any woman wants look fab they need to work on their bootys,dibabae(that skin hanging on your triceps)love handles and tummy. Holla back if you agree..

Now ladies always remember that its not advisable to tone your body(aka use heavy weights) when you still want to lose weight. It will only make your muscles visible over a whole lot of fat, then you get people saying I am not really losing weight,adding another dress size. Remember if you new to the gym always do lots of cardio if you wana lose weight, occasional 1kg dumbells will be good. Leave the groot ones to those muscle men who have big arms but skinny legs. LOL.

Fitness tip for the day

Ever heard everyone saying carbs are a no-no at night,especially those personal trainers at the gym trying to make money from you?? True or not???

Hate to disappoint,true that,research has found that if you take your carbs during the day, your chances of burning them are higher than when you are about to hit a sack. So lets take care of our bodies and remain beautiful.
